New Space For Photography

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Popular photography resource PhotoWings is currently featuring the newly opened Annenberg Space for Photography in Los Angeles, “a sprawling 10,000-square-foot space whose innovative architecture cleverly emulates the mechanics of a camera and lens.”  The gallery recently opened with the launch of “L8S ANG3LES,” a new exhibit highlighting the work of Los Angeles Times photographers.  Designed by DMJM Rottet, the Annenberg Foundation intends the new building to create “a new paradigm in the world of photography.”

Visit PhotoWings to view several photos of the new space as well as the opening gala.

Once again, we’re able to report another great event!  Last night’s block party was a hit with the crowds – great food, great music, and world-class photographers taking fun portraits all night long.  And once again, our sincere thanks to Glazer’s Camera for hosting.  More details to follow…

Despite the evening’s success, we’re still a long way from our fundraising goal this September.  Your support will decide whether our work will continue into next year. Please make a donation at the level you can afford today!

Party For A Good Cause!

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Our annual dinner at Seattle hotspot Matt’s in the Market, featuring a gourmet, four-course feast benefiting Blue Earth, was a great success!  Friends and supporters of Blue Earth helped us raise almost $13,000 to enable us to continue our mission educating the public about critical issues through photography.  Our thanks to Matt’s in the Market, our speakers Anna Mia Davidson, Djordje Zlatanovic, and Daniel Beltrá, our amazing emcee Chase Jarvis, and all the board members who worked so hard to make the night a great time for all.

But we haven’t reached our fundraising goal yet, and we have a long way to go to ensure our work can continue for another year.  Join us at the Blue Earth Bash and push us over the top!

The Summer Show Project
Deadline: October 15, 2009

FOLEYgallery is now accepting applications for The Summer Show Project 2010.  The Summer Show Project offers the unique chance for artists to work directly with the gallery, creating new work to be curated in a group exhibition.  This new initiative will provide an opportunity for emerging photographers to have their work seen, recognized and reviewed by fellow artists, gallery directors, book editors, as well as curators from museum and corporate collections.

Upon acceptance, you will work on your own and with the guidance of gallery owner Michael Foley to create new work dedicated to a theme that will be suggested by the curatorial panel.  A total of 12 photographers will be selected by the panel to participate.

Blue Earth September Fundraising Drive

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

Blue Earth needs your help this fall.  As a membership-based organization, we rely primarily on individual support to achieve our mission of educating the public about important social, cultural, and environmental issues through photography.

This year, we have accepted several new projects for sponsorship and have undertaken an ambitious schedule of lectures, partnerships, and exhibits.  Through these activities, we have succeeded in bringing the issues documented by our project photographers to a wider audience.  But we cannot continue this good work without your support, so we ask for your contribution to this year’s fund drive.

Please consider making a donation today!
