Blue Earth Alliance is seeking an independent contractor to assist the organization with a number of discrete tasks on a contract basis.

Contractual commitment

Blue Earth anticipates requiring a commitment of about 6-10 hours per week, with increased requirements in April and at year-end. The contracted period is 12 months, with the possibility of extension.

Rate for services: $15-25 per hour, depending on qualifications

Founded in 1995, Blue Earth Alliance is a 501(c) (3) dedicated to supporting cause-driven documentary photographers and filmmakers. Blue Earth believes documentary photography can inspire positive change.

Blue Earth Alliance’s mission is to support visual storytelling on critical environmental and social issues through direct assistance to photographers and a collaborative community of professionals.

Contracted Services

The contractor will provide members of the organization, including its Board of Directors, with professional administrative support, including setting up and managing systems for communication and maintaining the website. Working independently, the contractor will design and implement systems for recordkeeping, fundraising, business expansion, and achievement of strategic goals.

Maintain Independent Business

The contractor will be engaged by the organization as an independent contractor and not an employee. The contractor will maintain an independent business and may provide services to other clients. The contractor shall have full authority and independence to perform the contracted tasks using the contractor’s choice of methods and techniques. Blue Earth Alliance requires the contractor to meet applicable standards of professionalism in the performance of contractor’s services, but shall not control, direct, or supervise contractor’s work.

The contractor will be responsible for:

  • Providing contractor’s work space, equipment, and office services, including phone and internet service
  • Providing any standard office supplies (paper, writing implements, file folders, etc.)
  • Invoicing under the independent contractor agreement
  • Payment of all applicable taxes
  • Provision of appropriate insurance
  • Maintenance of appropriate licenses
  • Provision of any and all benefits, including medical
