About Bayou Bridge Pipeline
Louisiana Rise’s fight against the Bayou Bridge pipeline is environmental, social and economic. The group I have started to document is made up of landowners, tribal members, environmental justice advocates and fisherfolk who have spoken up at hearings to demand proper environmental reviews and outline threats posed by the pipeline. Despite these efforts, local politicians and governing bodies have ignored their concerns. Louisiana Rise is a diverse group of people standing up to stop the pipeline and protect their water and lands because no one else will. The Bayou Bridge Pipeline is the final section of the Dakota Access Pipeline and this movement is the continuation of the fight started by the Standing Rock Tribe against an energy company seeking profit over people’s health, livelihood and indigenous sovereignty.
